My webcam isn't working
Issues:
- My webcam isn't working
- A spinning "loading" image appears on the Webcam Check step
- I'm using Windows
A spinning loading image generally means that a webcam has been detected, but that
LockDown Browser isn?t being given access to it.
Try these solutions in the order listed:
1)
Check to make sure you have the latest version of LockDown Browser installed.
- Start Respondus LockDown Browser
- Select the i button from top of the toolbar
- Click Check for Newer Version. The version will be displayed and you will be able to download a newer version if one is available.
If a new version was installed, try the Webcam Check again.
2)
Ensure that LockDown Browser has permission to access the camera. Search on Windows for ?Camera Privacy Settings? and edit the settings to allow LockDown browser to access the camera. If you changed a setting, try the Webcam Check again.
3)
Shut down all applications and restart your computer. Then, manually shut down the applications that auto-launch when the computer is started, particularly those that use the webcam or are utility programs for the webcam. Finally, restart LockDown Browser and see if the problem is resolved.
4)
If the problem persists, check whether your anti-virus software has a setting that controls access to the webcam. Adjusting those settings may enable LockDown Browser to access the webcam.
If you are still unable to resolve your problem, submit a ticket to Respondus Support.
